My name is Michael and I am currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Umeå University. I come from the Philippines and studied in South Korea. I am interested in research related to aging, DNA damage and mitochondria biology.

My research work is mainly related to the communication between mitochondria and the nucleus. The mitochondria are integral to normal cell function from energy production to programmed cell death. Specifically, I am interested on how the mitochondria informs the nucleus when its DNA is damaged.
