I’m Michael, a postdoc researcher at Umeå University. I’m from the Philippines and studied in South Korea. I’m really interested in how cells work, especially how the mitochondria, the cell’s power plants, and the nucleus, the control center, talk to each other.
Inside a cell, different parts called organelles communicate to keep the cell healthy and working well. This communication makes sure the cell has enough energy, makes the right proteins, and can handle stress.
One important conversation happens between the mitochondria and the nucleus, helping the cell make energy and stay balanced. As we get older, this communication might not work as well, leading to less energy and a higher chance of getting sick. By studying how these parts communicate, I hope to help keep cells healthier as we age.
