I am postdoc researcher at Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Uppsala. I have always been fascinated with science from my schooldays. I chose plant research as a career when I realised that plants possess a remarkable capacity to repair wounds and restore missing parts (organs) when the plants are injured.
This regeneration capacity has been utilised in plant grafting (sv. ympning). In plant grafting, we rejoin wounded parts of two different plants to make a new plant with superior properties like disease resistance, high fruit productivity etc. My research addresses why some plants are incompatible to graft and seeks to find a way to overcome this incompatibility.
