Making olive oil without waste

My research is about learning how industrial processes (like making olive oil) and community services (like firefighting) affect the earth, water and sky. This is done by analyzing each step in the process or service to look for ways to make them less harmful to the environment. This type of research helps people like researchers, businesses, and policy makers make decisions when they are developing a new process, material, law, or way of doing something.

Depending on the kind of project, there are usually many other factors that influence the decisions they make, like cost, strength and availability of materials, and safety concerns, but my research makes it possible to include environmental factors along with everything else when deciding the best way to proceed.
