My research focuses on finding new antibiotics to help tackle the global problem of antibiotic resistance. In this presentation, I’ll share what it’s like to be a scientist and how research can help protect our health. I’ll also tell you about helpful and harmful bacteria, and how good bacteria can be used to fight the bad ones. In addition, the important role students themselves can play in reducing the risks of antibiotic resistance will be highlighted.
The presentation will also point out how social media can spread misinformation about antibiotics and bacteria, among other things, and why it’s important for students to think carefully about what they see online.
Together, we can fight bad bacteria and antibiotic resistance in the lab and online by making smart social media choices.
