Life beyond Earth

I am a space plasma and planetary scientist and study plasma interaction with various planetary moons. Part of my research is in the search of water beyond Earth. Today, we know the outer planet moons of Jupiter and Saturn harbor liquid water under their icy surfaces, perhaps more than the water we have on Earth. This is a very interesting topic because it is directly connected to life. Is there life under the icy surfaces of these moons?

In April 2023, an European spacecraft named JUICE was launched to go to the icy moons of Jupiter and explore their habitability. I am a team member of JUICE, and I love to share exciting knowledge about life beyond Earth with students at any grades.

I am a former PhD student at the Swedish Institute of Space Physics, and a former postdoc researcher at University of California at Berkeley, and NASA Ames Research Center. I am soon going to be promoted to an Associate Prof. at Umeå University.
