My name is José Laço and I’m a PhD student at the University of the Balearic Islands in Mallorca, Spain as a part of the PEST-BIN project. I’m portuguese and completed both my bachelors and masters degree in Portugal, the first in biology and the second in Biochemistry, with a focus on Microbiology in the master thesis.
Currently, I’m studying the role of the clinical environment as a reservoir for nosocomial infections, with a greater focus on antibiotic resistant bacteria, mainly the ones resistant to carbapenems. Also, until January I will be in Gothenburg as a part of my PhD program in order to do a more intensive proteomic analysis to some of the bacteria I’ve collected so far.
